Summary of 10 Common Problems in CNC Carving and Machining (Part 1)

       High-speed CNC engraving is widely used in the processing of precision metal components. In operation, it is inevitable that some issues may arise, such as how to adjust parameters to improve processing efficiency. Below, Suzhou machining parts manufacturer - Aihao Metal Products Factory will discuss a summary of 10 common problems that are prone to occur in CNC engraving (Part 1):

       1. The rough machining effect is not good. How should I adjust the parameters?

       Assuming the speed of the main axis is reasonable, if the tool life is still not guaranteed, when adjusting parameters, one should first adjust the depth of the feed and then the feed speed, and finally the side feed. However, the depth adjustment is also limited. If the adjusted depth is too small, it will result in too many layers. Although theoretically, this increases cutting efficiency, the actual processing effect will still be affected by other factors. If the cutting efficiency is too low, then one should change the small tools for processing to increase the processing efficiency. Generally speaking, the minimum depth of the tool cannot be less than 10mm;

       2. Can CNC engraving and machining be used for rough machining of steel materials

To determine whether CNC engraving can process special materials, it mainly depends on the size of the tool used. The tool used in CNC engraving determines its maximum cutting capacity. If the mold shape allows the use of a tool with a diameter of more than 6mm, it is strongly recommended to first use a CNC milling machine for processing, and then use engraving to remove the remaining material;

       Is it true that CNC milling machines can only perform rough machining, while CNC precision engraving machines can only perform fine machining?

       We need to understand the concept of a manufacturing process. The machining volume in the rough machining process is relatively large, while that in the finishing process is usually smaller. Therefore, some people habitually consider rough machining as heavy cutting and finishing as light cutting. However, in essence, rough machining, semi-finishing, and finishing are all concepts of manufacturing processes, representing different stages of machining. Therefore, the accurate answer to this question is that CNC milling can perform both heavy and light cutting, while CNC engraving can only perform light cutting;

       Can adding a speed increasing head to the spindle of a CNC machining center enable it to perform engraving processes?

       Of course not. This kind of equipment appeared at exhibitions a few years ago, but it was unable to complete engraving processing. The main reason is that the design of the CNC machining center considers its own tool range, and the overall structure is not suitable for engraving processing. The main reason for such a misconception is that it mistakenly regards the high-speed electric spindle as the only feature of an engraving machine;
